Density-functional theory study of half-metallic heterostructures: interstitial Mn in Si.
Using density-functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation, we show that Si-based heterostructures with 1/4 layer delta doping of interstitial Mn (Mn(int)) are half-metallic. For Mn(int) concentrations of 1/2 or 1 layer, the states induced in the band gap of delta-doped heterostructures still display high spin polarization, about 85% and 60%, respectively. The proposed hetero...

of 3d transition metals (Sc, Ti, Cr, Mn , Fe, Co, Ni) in both far and close situations were studied based on spin polarised density functional theory using the generalized gradient approximation (LDA) with SIESTA code. The electronic structures show that zigzag (0,9) GaAs nanotubes are non-magnetic semiconductors with direct band gap. It was revealed that doping of 11.11 % Fe and Mn concentrati...
متن کاملMetal-Free Half-Metallicity in B-Doped gh-C3N4 Systems
Half-metallicity rising from the s/p electrons has been one of the hot topics in spintronics. Based on the first-principles of calculation, we explore the magnetic properties of the B-doped graphitic heptazine carbon nitride (gh-C3N4) system. Ferromagnetism is observed in the B-doped gh-C3N4 system. Interestingly, its ground state phase (BC1@gh-C3N4) presents a strong half-metal property. Furth...
متن کاملDilute Magnetic Semiconductor and Half-Metal Behaviors in 3d Transition-Metal Doped Black and Blue Phosphorenes: A First-Principles Study
We present first-principles density-functional calculations for the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of substitutional 3d transition metal (TM) impurities in two-dimensional black and blue phosphorenes. We find that the magnetic properties of such substitutional impurities can be understood in terms of a simple model based on the Hund's rule. The TM-doped black phosphorenes with ...
متن کاملFerromagnetic GaN--Cr Nanowires.
Using first-principles theory, we predict ferromagnetism in Cr-doped GaN nanowires irrespective of the sites that the Cr atoms occupy. This is in contrast to Mn-doped GaN nanowires in which the magnetic coupling between the Mn atoms is sensitive to the Mn--Mn and Mn--N distances, although the ground state of Mn-doped GaN nanowires is ferromagnetic. Each Cr atom carries a magnetic moment of abou...
